Program Topics

WORKSHOP 1: SKILLS ASSESSMENT AND DEVELOPMENT PLANNING

Teamwork has a dramatic effect on organizational performance. An effective team can help an organization achieve incredible results. A team that is not working can cause unnecessary disruption, failed delivery, and strategic failure.  It’s important for your personal and career development to know your management strengths and weaknesses.

WORKSHOP 2: DELEGATION PROCESS & TEAM ACCOUNTABILITY

Delegating has been shown to improve task efficiency and benefit the organization in ways that aren’t obvious at first. Not only does delegation empower others, it also helps optimize the performance of the group.  Delegating empowers your team, builds trust, and motivates. The thoughtful use of delegation is also a way to stretch and develop people on your team.

WORKSHOP 3: GOAL SETTING & PROBLEM SOLVING

The SMART GOAL approach is easy to recall and encourages managers to gather information about the problem, Organize an approach to the solution, Analyze the problem, and then learn from their efforts.

WORKSHOP 4: PROCESS IMPROVEMENT & PROJECT MANAGEMENT

At the heart of any successful organization, you’ll find a series of well-defined processes. One of the responsibilities of a manager is to oversee these processes and ensure team members understand their roles within them. As organizations grow and change, processes must be analyzed and updated in order to remain as efficient as possible. That’s where project management and process improvement skills come into play.

WORKSHOP 5:  IT’S ALL ABOUT YOUR PEOPLE

When you manage your people effectively, and across each of the three key stages of engagement, development, and retention. At its core, the human element of people management is what matters the most — the effect your processes have on your people.

Faculty

Dr. Allen is a highly accomplished management and organizational leadership professor, author, and leadership coach.  Greg was the recipient of the 2012 Presidential Award for Excellence in Professional Studies and Graduate Teaching at George Fox University in Portland, Oregon.  He is a John R. Wooden Certified Coach, brings over 25 years of teaching adults learners, and is a frequent conference speaker.

Greg was my cohort’s primary instructor, and he made the program. I was expecting the professional development program to be much like many of the courses I took, sit in boring lectures and write boring papers.

Greg found ways to challenge everyone in the class, regardless of their background. His workshops were interactive and challenging. I spent every Tuesday evening in class, usually with Greg, and I looked forward to it.

Thanks to Greg I know I am a better leader.
